A Most Memorable New Year's Eve Event for you and your spouse.
It's the close of the year and time for you and your spouse to have some fun looking back. In other words, it's time for the Inaugural ____________ (put your last name in the blank) Awards!
Here's how the award ceremony works.
Each of you take a sheet of paper and nominate five things for five of the following categories, or for any categories that fit your family's interests.
- Most Memorable Movie of 2006
- Most Memorable Place Visited in 2006
- Most Memorable Encounter with a Person in 2006
- Most Memorable Experience in 2006
- Most Memorable Food Dish Eaten in 2006
- Most Memorable Restaurant of 2006
- Most Memorable Book Read in 2006
Read your choices to each other and learn even more about what the year past meant to your spouse.
And, the winner is.....!
Then, you can do several different things to determine the final award.
1. Each of you can select one winner from the entries you nominated for each category. The other person tries to guess which it is. Take turns sharing your top choices.
OR
2. You can make a list that applies to things the two of you did together. What is the best movie you enjoyed together? The most memorable place you visited together?, etc.
If you do both one and two, you have the benefit of learning more about the uniqueness of your spouse AND the benefit of celebrating the things you enjoy together.
You can talk about these things while sitting quietly in your living room, or you can go all the way--dress for a gala, bring out your best dishes and food, put glitter on the table, and add all the hoopla you want to the event!
