Too often, valentine gifts become an obligation. This article discusses how to put the love back into your gift at the same time as keeping the costs within budget.
Valentine’s Day is the day for partners to express their love and consideration for each other. Being on a tight budget sometimes makes the more expensive, traditional gifts impossible to manage. However, there are some relatively inexpensive gifts that can showcase your emotions because they come straight from your heart. The basic premises of these types of personalized gifts are consideration and thoughtfulness, as opposed to a high price tag. Gift of TimeTake that one activity that your partner has been bugging you about and make it a priority to do. Perhaps he has wanted you to go hiking for some time or visit the local motorcycle shop and “dream” of a future purchase. Whatever the activity, it is a great gift idea to give of your own time and do something your partner has longed to do. Photo in RemembranceEither purchase a special photo frame or buy a pretty photo album. Many times, the month of January is a great time to buy clearance items left over from the December holidays. Then – find the pictures that best represent your happiest moment. Add some personalized comments about your happiness and love represented in the pictures. Write a story about your first vacation or your first kiss. Romantic SongsCreate your own love CD with “your” songs on it. Assemble those songs that bring back memories – such as singing together in the car or dancing your first time together. Get a sharpie marker and write “I Love You” all over the top of the CD and case. Celebrate All Day LongStart off the day with some love notes on the bathroom door or inside the cereal box. Pack some chocolates for snacking on throughout the day. Cook your love’s special dinner for evening. Light the votive candles, turn on your romantic CD, and spend the evening giving a massage, hugging your partner and sharing stories. Valentine’s Day is meant to share love with a special partner. When putting some thought into the gift, the total cost for the day doesn’t have to equal a car payment. After all – it truly is the thought that counts.
