Husbands and wives looking to spice up their Christian marriage should see Valentine's Day as a great opportunity for romantic ideas and adventures.
Valentine's Day isn't just for singles and those dating. It's also for husbands and wives. Valentine's Day for married couples? Absolutely. In fact, Valentine's Day offers a great opportunity for couples, especially Christian couples, to reconnect with one another and renew their romance. Achieving and maintaining romance in marriage, though, requires that each party give in the marriage (and not simply take). That's of course basic Christian marriage advice. Unfortunately, not enough people abide by it. What can Christian couples do to re-charge their marriage and make sure things are on the right track? Here are some romantic ideas to help Christians, not only with Valentine's Day or Valentine's Day weekend activities, but also in transforming their relationships. Romantic Candle Light Dinner for TwoSend the kids to the babysitter. Cook or order in a classy meal. Break out the silverware. Light the candles. Spend a warm, uninterrupted evening enjoying each other's company. A candle light dinner is a tried-and-true classic, and it works. Ski Vacation GetawaySkiing isn’t as expensive as some might think, especially in the present down economy. There are many ski resorts offering special vacation packages. A ski vacation can be a wonderful experience for couples, complete with ski lessons (if needed), great exercise, romantic cabins, and more. The key is to plan ahead. BowlingThere's nothing particularly innovative with this idea, but it's a proven, fun activity for many couples. Bowling can be both competitive and relaxing, and most importantly, can take the mind of the wife and husband off bills, pets, errands, etc. Visit Local AttractionsTake a day trip to a museum, aquarium, planetarium, or other local attraction. Spend time walking around, holding hands, learning something. It's easy to get distracted in the hustle-and-bustle of life. A day trip to a museum or planetarium provides a great opportunity to "slow down" and "re-focus." Romantic and Fun "Game Night"A romantic "game night" is a way to turn up the heat and bring out the "fun" factor in marriage. Unfortunately, many Christian couples are uncomfortable and a little "uptight" (for lack of a better word) concerning sex. This is unfortunate. One only needs to read the Song of Solomon to see that the Bible teaches otherwise. Not just the Song of Solomon. The writer of Hebrews, while condemning fornication (sex outside of marriage) makes clear that the "marriage bed" is "undefiled." God created sex and gave it as a gift to married couples. Christian couples therefore should consider fun activities and games they can play in private to spice up the romance and keep their relationship both sexy and fun. These ideas barely scratch the surface. Couples can easily add to this, with more research and simply by sitting down and making a list of fun and creative activities they'd like to try. The important thing is for couples to not let Valentine's Day pass with a simple card or rose, but rather to use it as a day to re-connect with one another and renew that spark between them.
